Where to Stay in Munich – Best Munich Neighborhoods to Stay in for Tourists
The cultural heart of Munich and the best place to stay in Munich, if you are a museum lover. Many of Munich’s 80 museums, the Residenz and the Bavarian State Opera House are located in this neighborhood. It is also within walking distance to the Marienplatz and City Center.
The Marienplatz is the town square in Munich’s Altstadt. You will find ample opportunity for shopping and many restaurant choices, including the Hofbräuhaus.
For a little bite to eat or to find some tasty souvenirs, visit the Viktualienmarkt, where you can find any produce (local and imported), meat, fish, and other delicacies.
Schwabing is a great neighborhood for tourists that want to explore the nightlife of Munich. You’ll find many bars and clubs, posh restaurants and cozy cafés on every corner.
It is also the home to the English Garden. Make sure to visit one of the many Beergardens and watch the surfers on the Eisbach!
Glockenbachviertel is the hip and gentrified area of Munich. You’ll find many bars, restaurants, galleries, and boutiques in this area. It is also centrally located, so you can walk to many sights and attractions in Munich.

Where to Stay in Munich – Budget Hotels in Munich
A pleasant little hotel extremely close to the Isartor, with Marienplatz, Viktualienmarkt and the Deutsches Museum within easy walking distance, this hotel has a wellness-/ Fitness center and modern furnishings with plenty of light wood and muted colors, which make for a peaceful and informal atmosphere.
All rooms have their own bath or shower/WC. TV with cable connection and telephone are standard fittings in each room. High-speed Internet access is available upon request (for a charge). Parking facilities are available in the Hotel’s own garage or in a nearby multistory car park.

In the heart of the northern Munich district of Schwabing, Pension am Kaiserplatz has a central but peaceful location. There are plenty of bars, shops, and restaurants just around the corner, but you can still relax in the tranquillity of this little guest house.
It is family run, which gives it a cozy feel and is equipped and maintained with care and attention. The rooms are simple, but tasteful and thoughtfully furnished. The staff is more than willing to help with directions and restaurant tips.
