Travel Stuff We Love

We love to travel and we also love to share with our readers items that make travel easier, more interesting, or are just plain fun. Here is our latest batch of travel stuff we love:

Travel Stuff We Love

Carry on Backpack

Our latest love (for sure) is Standard Luggage Company’s  Carry-on Backpack. We received a sample of this product just before we left for our annual beach weekend. I couldn’t wait to try it out, and when I did, found that I appreciated its light weight and the many options for using this bag. Aside from having the capacity to be used as a back pack, or shoulder strap bag, it has a sleeve that can easily be slipped over your rolling suitcase or carry-on. Plus, there is ample space for your travel wardrobe and shoes. And, not only does it have a padded pouch for your laptop and one for your tablet, there are additional external zippered pockets for carrying things that need to be accessed quickly and easily. You too will be impressed with the quality construction which is evident through out. I just love it! Check-out the following short video to see for yourself!

As you might know by now, we love travel books, both practical and pretty. Here are two of our latest favorites.

We Love Travel Books too!

Only in London

travel stuff we loveDid you know that below the bronze lions guarding Nelson’s column on Trafalgar square are buried some real lions? I certainly didn’t until I read Duncan J. D Smith’s fascinating Only in London’.  More than a guidebook, it tells you about the hidden corners and unusual objects of London. His book numbers the attractions and flags them on a map on the front inside cover, so you know exactly where each is located. I also like that he has put together abbreviated tours such as a stroll through Bloomsbury’s squares. Going to Paris or Vienna instead? No problem, Mr. Smith has written ‘Only in’ Guides to nine popular European cities.

Gardens of the Italian Lakes

travel stuff we loveI love gardens (although I am not a gardener.) So when we travel, I seek out gardens to visit. And, I have just added some new gardens to explore the next time we are in northern Italy. Steven Desmond, a gardener and lecturer, has led many tours of the historic gardens of Europe. Here, he and photographer Marianne Majerus, have put together a glorious coffee-table book that invites you to revel in the beauty of the villa gardens surrounding Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. A map is provided so you too can follow the trail. Fountains, statuary and lush flora are featured in most gardens along with enchanting views of the lakes. If you love gardens, you will want to begin planning your next trip to Europe with a focus on the Italian Lakes region. You will be glad you did.

At times we are contacted to try out products or review books for our readers. Although we do not pay for these items, we will only offer our completely honest opinions. If we do not like the item, we don’t publish a review.
